Madcap Mushrooms started the way all good ideas do: a little too big for the space it was given.

Blake and Lindsey Goldberg have been growing gourmet mushrooms since 2021, back  when our entire operation lived inside a 400-square-foot tiny home. It was cozy. Until it wasn’t. The mushrooms quickly took over. As Blake likes to say, “That house belonged to the mushrooms—we were just paying the rent.”

After Blake retired from the Air Force in 2022, we settled in Vermont, where the mushrooms were finally given the space they demanded. By January of 2024, Madcap Mushrooms LLC was born. Today, we’re still hands-on, still slightly unhinged, and as mad about mushrooms as ever.

    Our Winter CSA brings Madcap Mushrooms to your fridge weekly for 12 weeks (Jan 15–Apr 2), with a rotating lineup of fresh, in-season mushrooms. No two boxes are ever the same.
